MAF Test 3

I almost didn't do the MAF Test today - for some reason, I haven't run much in the last month (6 times for a total of 26 miles), some laziness, some life getting in the way, some unknown. Then it dawned on me that this would be a great MAF Test, as it would show me if I had built any base endurance.

MAF Test 3

Again almost exactly a month later (September 3rd versus August 2nd versus July 3rd), I headed out on MAF Test 3: 55 degrees versus 63 and 61, 88% humidity versus 94 and 88, close enough in terms of apples to apples comparison. I again walked the 1st mile, then a slow jog for Mile 2.

Mile 1: 11:33 (September), 11:12 (August), 11:49 (July)
Mile 2: 11:41 (September), 11:36 (August), 12:37 (July)
Mile 3: 11:22 (September), 11:48 (August), 12:24 (July)
Honestly a bit surprising. With such minimal training, I still improved my last mile. Imagine if I was more consistent and improved my nutrition!

  1. It is amazing the progress that can be had. I think one of the keys to my success with it has been holding down some decent mileage all summer. I figured that if I wasn't getting in speed, I might as well get in miles!

  2. This is a really cool idea. You've done well hanging on to your fitness. I can't imagine that crazy humidity.

  3. Really good. I think it also shows that our bodies enjoy a little less training some times.

  4. This heat and humidity definitely hasn't been conducive to running outside. Time to ramp back up though and enjoy some nice fall running weather.
