Laima and I are incredibly lucky people, for so many reasons, including 4 great kids. That, however, doesn't mean we don't like a little time to ourselves on occasion. More luckiness includes Laima's Aunt and Uncle, who are our default childcare, and restaurant meals we get comped for our food and wine blog, 50 States Of Wine.
Last night was such a night - we headed into Chicago for a fondue dinner at Geja's Cafe, celebrating their 48th anniversary (48% off the food portion of dinner June 30th through Thursday, July 4th! Go! Go! Go!). A walk through the Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory got the evening off to a romantic start.
Geja's prides itself on being a romantic restaurant and it delivers. The interactive dinner leads to conversation and an intimate feeling. Good wine along with the tasty food helps as well. :)
Post dinner we walked over to the Lake Michigan lakefront (great location for a restaurant, right, near the Zoo, lakefront, and so much more?) for a stroll, marveling at the amazing number of people out for a run, or bike, or volleyball game, or... Made us wish the schools were better and we could afford to live in Chicago!
