“For All Your Delicate Parts!”
I must admit that, when Skin Sake first contacted me about reviewing their product, my first thought was sake, as in Japanese rice wine. Turns out I was wrong. :)
Skin Sake Athletic is a skin ointment used to prevent, soothe and treat chafing, blisters and abrasions during training and racing as well as to treat and soften areas of skin that may need special attention. One of the things I really liked was that Skin Sake Athletic has zinc oxide in it (the white sunblock you see on reruns of “Baywatch”), which not only allows you to see where the product actually is, but also gives you sun protection. Nice thinking!
Skin Sake is available in a stick form, with a retractable dial for more or less usage or packaged in convenient 5 gram doses (about the size of a typical energy gel), an easy size to carry with you during a race.
A simple product that works, though the coverage wore off for me under 2 hours - for most, that's plenty and it's easy to carry more in the gel packs, so shouldn't dissuade anyone from trying it. I also loved the smell!
